not all windoze programs will work under wine. please check the application database at www.winehq.com to see if your application works before install them.

if they are listed as working, to execute them, you have to right click the file then select open with wine.

the c drive you are talking about is not the c drive. it is a fake image of the c drive in a virtual windoze environment. all windoze software install by default on the c drive, so that shouldn't be a problem.

what is the .daa file format?

I don't think the ISO tools you mention will work in Ubuntu, but don't worry, there are plenty of substitutes available.

The most basic way of mounting an ISO is from the terminal, running one of these commands:

sudo mount -o loop /path/to/iso.iso /path/to/where/you/want/it/mounted

or

fuseiso -o /path/to/iso.iso /path/to/where/you/want/it/mounted

There are also a selection of easy to use programs to do it graphically, like Acetone or gCDEmu, try googling for it.

Bearshare does not run in Wine due to its reliance on Microsoft DRM "features", but according to the web page for iMesh that should be "somewhat WINE compatible".
