wine won't open .exe files

I installed wine with the software center but it won't do anything. Whenever I try to open an exe with it the minimized window shows up for a few seconds while the waiting sign spins. Then it just closes. I know the program is set to open with the wine program loader and I've tried a few programs(games). The one it first did this to was Titan Quest Immortal Throne, which I have the crack for(don't need the disk to run), if that makes a difference. But this has also happened with games I've tried to launch from the disk. The first time I opened TQIT with wine it worked just fine. I just tried to make it work by installing wine 1.3.3 instead of 1.2.2 but that didn't change anything.

not all programs will run under wine. seeing that you have a cracked piece of software, i doubt anyone will be providing assistance.

marcus, unless that "crack" is for a legitimately purchased game to overcome an annoyance of the game which removal is covered by fair use in your country (e.g. cd check, crippling DRM or a root kit that makes the game not work in Wine). Also, I'm not a lawyer.

Joshua, could you try running a game that has been marked as being able to run at http://appdb.winehq.org from the Terminal and check or post its output here?
If you're unsure as to how to do this - open a terminal, type "wine " without the quotes, drag the Windows executable to the terminal window, click the terminal window and press enter.

Just so you know, the crack is for a purchased game, I have the disk, but it won't run off of the exe on that either. I'll notify you on whether or not your advice worked once I have a chance to try it. Thanks!
