Hi Sandeep,

In order to run Windows applications in Ubuntu, you would need to install and run them with Wine.

Wine does not allow running of all windows applications under Ubuntu; a database of applications and if they work or not is available at appdb.winehq.org.

I did a quick search and found the following versions of Visual Studio. For 2008 there are two versions, the full edition does not work and the "Express Edition" has a status of Bronze.

Ubuntu has a LOT of development tools. You may want to look into those as they are native and will run cleaner and more reliably.

That is not a download link for Visual Studio. It is a link to a page that documents the degree to which different versions of Visual Studio can be run with Wine.

If you carefully reread Allen's answer, that should clarify your confusion. But please feel free to post again if you have any further questions on this topic.

If/When you get VisualStudio installed it may run slower or faster or crash or straight up act crazy, Wine is a best effort attempt to get apps running. Some run amazingly. Some will not even install.

Canonical and the Ubuntu community will NOT give you links and help in any illegal practises or piracy, so don't waste your time asking.

Please note that I'm not accusing you of seeking to violate copyright, and I don't think anybody else here is either. With that said: Besides how, as actionparsnip says, this is *not* a forum for copyright infringement, Allen's link shows that the Express Edition of Visual Studio 2008 will run somewhat OK in Wine, whereas the Professional Edition will not run in Wine at all.

Now, your mileage may vary; the Express Edition might not work at all for you, and if you have the Professional Edition, it is imaginable that it could work. But the Express Edition is likely to work a whole lot better, and that edition is available from Microsoft at no cost.

Can you help with this problem?
