An exe file is a Windows file.

You need Wine. Download it from Synaptic. Right click the exe file and select Open with wine. I guess, you can't run all Windows software by Wine.

Hope it helps.

Why do you need to install ie8? That seems very odd.

Install winetricks (either by finding it in Software Center or by typing "sudo apt-get install winetricks" in a terminal) and then use it to install Internet Explorer 8 by running the following in a terminal:
winetricks ie8

Installing winetricks should also install Wine.

mycae, it could be because Kyle wants to check if a website works in IE8 or not or how the layout works in it. It's not uncommon for web developers to check in multiple browsers ;)

That said, Kyle, if you're looking to using Internet Explorer for general use, then don't - first of all it is not running all that well in Linux, secondly it's not supported on Linux and thirdly you have a plethora of other browsers available to you - check the Software Center.

Can you help with this problem?
