Canon DSLR Cameras

Canon provides a Windows program that allows access to the Camera functions from a computer such as menu settings but more importantly viewing the image on the pc screen including shutter control allowing the viewing and taking a photo from the laptop. Is there a similar Linux program that will provide a similar function? I would like to be able to remotely operate the camera and capture images to my netbook using Ubuntu.
