10.10 problem with PBasic Stamp

Asked by Garland Louvier

I'm a completely new user to Linux. I'm switching over from Windows and so far I love how clean everything runs. However, I do have problems with installing software. I'm very used to the double click on a setup program and let it take me from there. My major problem right now is with PBasic Stamp from Parallax. I can install it using WINE, but it won't locate a useable COM port. I've also downloaded the packages found on Parallax's website, but I can't figure out exactly how to install them. Perhaps I'm just retarded, but I am completely new to Linux and a step-by-step guide to getting this done would be greatly appreciated. Again, I truly enjoy how cleanly Linux runs, but I just don't understand how to install program packages. Thank you for your help in this matter.

I kept looking stuff up and found a way of opening the com ports. Problem solved, but thank ya'll for looking into it for me.
