what file do I choose to put my internet downloads into; instead of archive manager?

Asked by laura leard

What should FIREFOX do with a dos windows executable when I click a link to download software given these options: 1) open with, 2) download them all, 3) save file in? Please keep in mind that I am used to a windows download wizard that automatically places the executable in "Programs," with a short-cut or icon onto my desktop for me to press to use with ease.

It will simply download and save if you have not wine installed.
And if I remember, even if Wine is installed, it will ask you if you want run .exe file or simply save it. I advise strongly to save before, and to run by clicking on file icon later.

Can you help with this problem?
