IE7 on within Ubuntu 10.04LTS(playonlinux)

Asked by jmsroa88

Good day to all,
I have been trying to run within Lucid Lynx the Windows IE7 thru Playonlinux, but it just isn't happening. I followed the instructions diligently, went thru the motions of install(which by the way was correct), then run via playonlinux, opens up to wineHQ page, then tried to install adobe flash(via get adobe web page) clicked on install(windows, internet explorer) - it directs to the page correctly, but upon accept install and directed to the download(this is where is is supposed to have an active x bar at the top and then goes to the ADM page) this is where nothing happens - it just stops.
I tried to go to another page that has flash(clickedon the get adobe flash) also nothing happens. So now.......hhhmmmmmm this nOOB is "lost is space".
Anyone out there had any success with this or could someone please assist - tell me what did I do wrong.
My thanks in advance for the help folks
Cheers
James R

There's this:

But its pretty bloody awful. IE on Linux is horrific and the only real way to get a decent experience is to run a virtualbox which involves a windows license and install media.

Personally I wouldnt bother and there are LOTS of native browsers available on the repos and other places.

I was kinda expecting that IE is gonna run bad on linux, but was hoping that maybe there was a better solution. Anyways like I said - i did do the virtualbox and yes, its running well. Thing is there is this particular game that is dependent on IE, tried running the .exe thru wine but being IE dependent the nav links are blocked grey. Still no matter since i've got the VBox. Sure would be nice though when all comes thru with linux soon. Helps me make a complete migration altogether.
My thanks and deepest appreciation fer yer time and patience fer the reply.
