Using Wine to run Steam creates problems

Asked by Will

I don't know if I just did something wrong, I have a decent computer, but when ever I try to run steam or any other windows application it is really laggy. To the point that it is terrible. Like when I installed steam, and the password box came up, I clicked on it and typed in my password and it took about 3 minutes for the password to show up in the box.

I also tryed to use steam to install Counter Strike: Source. Then when I tried to run it a box came up saying I needed to update the drivers for my Nvida geforce 3 graphics card, and my computer has an ati graphics card. I don't even know what to do about this problem.

computer specs:
hp pavilion zeh200
pentium 4 processor 2.53GHz
1.25gb ram
ati radeon 350m graphics card
current version of ubuntu
current version of wine

try:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntu-wine/ppa; sudo apt-get update; sudo apt-get upgrade

I also suggest you check this:
