panel at left or right

Asked by Stefan

Heh

Is there a way to use the window-picker in panels placed at the left or right of the screen, maybe an option i am missing? It should sort the windows vertical and not horizontal as in top or bottom panels, cause with horizontal order it's not usable at left or rigth!

I may be wrong about what a window-picker is, but you can move the panel, along with the window, list to any of the sides of the screen by right clicking the panel and selecting properties. In the Panel Properties window the drop down menu labeled Orientation will determine where the panel is located.
If you just want a panel with only the window list on it then create a new panel by right clicking on a panel and selecting the New Panel option. Right click on the newly created panel and select the Add to panel option and double click the Window List applet. Hope this helps

thanks for answer! I know how to change the panel position, problem is that the applet (window-picker) don't change its orientation! so if you have a vertical panel the windows are still orderd horizontal and not in the panel direction! It tries to bring all windows to 40 pxl! maybe thats a bug... dont know

I installed the window-picker-applet and it does seem to be a bug, my advice would be to write a bug report on the package.
