wicd 1.6.2.2 not finding home wireless network

Asked by Guy M

after a wicd upgrade it would only show <hidden> network but would not connect automatically. I had to enter find hidden network manually and then it would connect. That became annoyning so I tried to reinstall but no change so tried to force ver. 1.6.2.1.1 and I got

guy@ubuntu-laptop:~$ sudo apt-get install wicd

I removed wicd and went back to nm and with each attempt to get wicd back I get the same message?
Trying through synaptic I would get
Err http://apt.wicd.net hardy/extras wicd 1.6.2.1-1

The previous was with the console.

Thankyou in advance
Guy
