Hi
having difficulties with connection to my local network provider using wicd I couldnt connect even though I was using the correct encryption password? When I reverted to network-manager-gnome I was presented with a drop down menu......with wep 40/128 passphrase ........ I put in the password and it works perfectly but the wep 40/128 passphrase personal option was not presented to me when using wicd .?????
Can anyony explain this!?And how can I get it to work in wicd!?

Scan for networks, when yours shows up click the properties button and you should be able to specify everything there. Wicd also allows more flexibility with DNS / addressing with each SSID you use. You can define a global DNS setup then tell some or all connections to use it. I personally advise it over network manager if you do NOT use 3G. It is also python based so is desktop independent and will not haul in a tonne of dependencies if you use GNOME or KDE.

thanks for your help.
We have a local provider with an antennae on our wall plus recently we have three.ie mifi modem coming to us from a base station 4 miles away. Do I have 3g with this with what we have and if so you seem to advise staying with network manager!?

Yes 3G currently isn't a function inwicd yet but they do have this. I think its a command to make the system connect but it will be outside of wicd'c control as far as I can see:

I'd just stick with network manager
