Why there is no package of Wesnoth 1.8 for Ubuntu 10.04 in main repository?

Are there any informations when the 1.8 will be in main repository?

How can I build package from source and make it available on one of repositories?

I'd contact this to suggest your package to the maintainers:

You can also add this PPA to install it:
https://launchpad.net/~stikonas/+archive/ppa

If1.8 is necessary or has significant bgfixes then submit a bug and state you have built the source and it may get included onto the official repositories
