webcam-server what is the best version for precise 12.04

Have to install webcam-server 0.50.4 and was unable to get it to run. It stops at this point.

How did you install the application? It's not from the official repositories.

I downloaded this package from:

https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/lucid/amd64/webcam-server/0.50-4

I see it is for Lucid and was never upgraded to Precise version.

Would there be another webcam-server ? compatible with maybe Ubuntu 14,04LTS version cause I am willing to upgrade now

Well, it's made for Lucid which went EOL a while back and was released five years ago.... What did you expect.

Does the webcam show if you use cheese or guvcview?
