It would help if it was stated _which_ web browser this is about. Unlike some other O/S's, Linux offers a broad choice so the information is required. Common web browsers for Linux are Firefox, Chrome, ....

Thanks Karel. As the original post says, this question is about the default browser bundled with Ubuntu Phone (Ubuntu Touch OS). My understanding is that some settings will be added to the browser by OTA4 but I don't know what those will be.

In the earlier design spec there was provision for a private browsing tab but that option has been deleted in the current version. Apart from being able to remove History items one by one, there seem to be no privacy options at the moment.
