Wacom tablet does not work on Macbook with Ubuntu

Asked by Beejunk

I recently installed Ubuntu 8.04 on a separate partition on my Macbook. I'm given to understand that Wacom tablets should pretty much work out-the-box, but this has not been the case. I've spent the last couple of days trying some fixes that are posted on the forums (included the how-to that is referenced in the Ubuntu Wacom wiki), all to no avail (except, oddly, that the click-wheel on the mouse seems to be working, and nothing else. No stylus, no mouse movement, nothing)

So, the question is, is there a fix for this, or are the Wacom drivers broken on a Macbook? If so, is there any guess as to when they might get fixed? Ubuntu is essentially useless to me if the tablet will not work, so any help at all is greatly appreciated.

Details: Macbook Core Due, Wacom Graphire 2 tablet, Ubuntu 8.04

Well, as it turns out, mouseemu was the culprit. For some reason, on my Macbook, mouseemu destroyed the Wacom installation. So, I used Synaptic Package Manager to remove mouseemu, and after re-installing wacom-tools and re-booting, the tablet worked like a charm.
