FTP Server Configuration

Asked by Kevin

I am setting up a ftp server using vsftpd in Ubuntu.
Inside my network the ftp server works perfect, but it does not work outside my network.
Please help me with the firewall rules so i can use my FTP server anywhere.

You need to setup port forwarding in the router, forward port 21/TCP to the IP address of the system and you will be able to connect to the WAN IP of the router on port 21/TCP and get connected.. I recommend you use an SSH tunnel for this as security in FTP is very poor. Alternatively you could abandon FTP and install openssh-server on the server, port forward port 22 and use SFTP which has much more security

Can you help with this problem?
