Errors in 10.04 server guide - ftp page?

Asked by Jay Thacker

The page at https://help.ubuntu.com/10.04/serverguide/C/ftp-server.html says "By default vsftpd is configured to only allow anonymous download." I have observed that this is not true. When I installed vsftpd it was configured by default to only allow user accounts on the server to establish an ftp connection.

Also, the same page also says that "During installation a ftp user is created with a home directory of /home/ftp. This is the default FTP directory." By my observation, this is incorrect. When I installed ftp, there was no /home/ftp directory created.

So, do these constitute bugs in the document or have I missed something?

Sounds like an inaccuracy, usually the docs are wikis so you can change them yourself, if not then log a bug

Thanks. It's part of the "official documentation" so I do not think I can edit it - will submit bug report.

Can you help with this problem?
