how to add a disk to ubuntu

I'm very new to ubuntu. I have ubuntu installed on a VM and have given the ubuntu system a 2Gb disk but don't know how to get ubuntu to see it.

So you have an ubuntu host system with an ubuntu guest. Are you actually using VMWare or a different virtualisation software?

OK then i suggest you enable NIC bridging, the VM will then be accessible to the network as if it was an actual PC. You can then simply share the folders using your chosen technology (SSH, Samba, FTP server etc) and connect to it.
