Can't connect to VM from ubuntu 11.10 desktop PC

Asked by Daniel Starr

I'm currently running VMWare on Ubuntu server 10.04 LTS. This is working fine. I have 2 VMs running now; 1 x Win7 & 1 x Ubuntu server.

I'm trying to connect to the Win7 VM from my ubuntu 11.10 desktop PC... however, I have no idea how to install (or find) a compatible plugin for the remote console for either FireFox, Chrome or Chromium!

I have googled for the answer but keep finding the same irrelevant results.

Does anyone out there know what program I should be using to try and connect to the remote console?
I have tried VMWare View Open Client with no success!

Many thanks,
Daniel

First make sure your Win7 VM has remote access set, then you should be able to use either Terminal Server Client (Applications/Internet/Terminal Server Client) or just rdesktop from the command line. rdesktop gives me a finer granularity of control settings if you need them. The VMs seem to run faster than when in VMplayer since the display is now native.

Can you help with this problem?
