cant play songs on ubuntu 9.04

my problem is that i cant play songs on ubuntu 9.04
it is saying
Your input can't be opened:

The link here entered by you does not exist anymore as the browser suggests.

Try some other one which exists for sure or try some song from your PC itself.
It should play if your system has the required plugins installed.
