VLC won't start up

Asked by Souljah

Hi,

I just recently upgraded to Ubuntu 9.04 Jaunty. Initial install went fine, I went about customizing my usual VLC settings. After setting it, saving it, and closing it, VLC does not appear to be starting up anymore. I tried doing a complete removal from the synaptic package manager but that also does not appear to be working. VLC won't start up from the application menu nor the Run menu by pressing ALT F2. Any help? How can I remove all traces of VLC on ubuntu and start fresh? Thanks.

there is a hidden direcory in your home directory called .vlc - in there are the preferences saved. It may help to remove this directory and reopen vlc

Uh I'm sorry - the directory was moved some time ago to .config/vlc - so you should delete this directory

Can you help with this problem?
