What is VLC?

Asked by Paul Hunter

I have had no luck getting DVDs to play on Totem or Kaffeine. I've followed numerous instructions for downloading and installing codecs, to no effect (one of the messages I get is something about "deferred processing" - whatever that means.

I have seen several references to "VLC", supposedly as a good DVD player (?), but no one says what VLC is or where to get it. I did a search of applications, and a search for VLC comes up with a DVD copy utility - not a player.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

-Paul

It works! So far the cideo quality is poor, but maybe that's the DVD I am looking at. I'll look for different settings and try another DVD. THANK YOU!
