Can't play any video. Seems to be same as Question #1724

Hi,

I seem to have the same problem described in Question #1724 but I don't know too much about Linux and I don't know how to change the video output to "no xv".

And does this solve it for any player?

please try opening the player in a terminal and paste the error messages here..

hello again,

I just saw in a forum that I should change video output in VLC preferences (for example) to 'X11 video output' which I'm assuming is the referred "no xv". After doing that, videos play normally and without any problems, even in Totem (I'm not sure why).

So, I think that solves my question.
