I'm not aware that the VideoLAN project offers Ubuntu installer packages for vlc. Where did you get that from?

Hi ,

How did you install Vlc Offline and where you downloaded the file ?

Vlc site offers only compressed files with the code and you must have the appropriate libraries to compile and create .deb packages.
Except that , you must download and install all appropriate dependencies .

The .deb files for VLC (for Presice 12.04) are here : http://packages.ubuntu.com/search?keywords=Vlc&searchon=names&suite=precise&section=all

BUT

look all the dependencies (red dot) you must download and install .

Also you must download and install ubuntu-restricted-extras too. Here: http://packages.ubuntu.com/precise/ubuntu-restricted-extras

Good Luck

Thanks

That package is…
a) …from an untrusted source. DO NOT INSTALL SOFTWARE FROM UNTRUSTED SOURCES! NEVER!
d) an old version of VLC with many security related bugs that have been fixed meanwhile.
c) more than 3 years old.
d) for Ubuntu 8.10 not 12.04

It might also have broken some libs used to play media.

I'd normally say, install the janitor it will help you remove all the packages, but for that and to restore the originals you would need internet access.
Is there any way you can get the machine hooked up to the internet?
