Which plugin do I need to play a video disk

Asked by Howard Walker

I bought a video disk for my wife for Christmas, and it will not play on my computer. Help takes me to a site that has lots of plugins, but they are all described in meaningless language for the average person. All I need is a plugin that will allow me to play a non PAL video disk. Any help would be appreciated

The more easy to install is vnc, which has its own codec included.
Else have a look at: http://medibuntu.org/

Sorry, a typo. Software is VLC.

I downloaded VLC and installed it via the command line. Complicated little routine involving lots of typing.
It works ok, but I will allways have to load up the videos myself - the wife has no chance.
Thanks a lot - it got me out of a fix.
