visualboy advanced fullscreen and joystick support

(i'm using ubuntu 10.10)okay so I downloaded visualboy advanced via the ubuntu software center the download says it supports fullscreen and has joystick support both in which seems not to be so because it has no option for fullscreen and neither is it allowing me to configure my joystick, is there another download that fixes this issue, I know it's not my controller because mame works just great and so does snes9x work great fullscreen plus joystick options are perfect
