What operating system is your host system? 32 or 64bit?
Which version of VirtualBox are you installing, and from which source?
Is VirtualBox already installed, or is the installation failing?
Which guest system to you intend to install? 32 or 64bit? From Which installation medium?
Do you receive any error message?

You probably have to enable / disable certain features in the computer BIOS, see https://askubuntu.com/q/607897

If you don't have VT-X enabled in your BIOS you can only run 32bit guests. Check your BIOS or motherboard manual on how to enable this. Not all motherboards have this.

Where are the answers?

Please look at https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/virtualbox/+question/675556 to see your question document, and you will probably see, that there is nothing.

Please copy/paste the output of the commands into your question document.
In case that you prefer to use a mail reply, please delete all previous contents of the mail to avoid double information.

Your CPU does not have VTX so can only run 32Bit guest OSes. You cannot run a 64Bit virtual machine on your CPU

Revision history for this message
Manfred Hampl (m-hampl) said :

sudo apt-get install --reinstall virtualbox virtualbox-dkms virtualbox-qt
