VirtualBox how to setup and use

Asked by David Grimshaw

I am a newbiwe to Linux and currently have Ubuntu 12.04 on my old pentium 4 PC.
I want to be able to use Legacy which is a Windows Genealogy program, have looked at gramps and it just does not cut the mustard, have even had a look at RootsMagic via Crossover and it is not as Good as Legacy IMHO, more so when doing a One Name Study.
Have tried Lagacy via Crossover however it does not proform as well as I am used to under Windows XP.
Have noted that when I installed Ubuntu 10.04 some things worked ok however some of those programs now fail to run using wine.

The LegacyFamilyTree.com web site says the following " Legacy runs on Linux machines with a Windows emulator like VMWare or Sun's Virtual Box)".
Have downloaded Sun's Virtual Box however at this point I get stuck as it does not appear to install let alone run.
, clearly I am missing something.
Can some one assit with a simple guide.
Thanks in advance.

You just need to run:

sudo apt-get install virtualbox-ose

You will then need your Windows CD and license. Mount the CD as the drive in the virtual system then boot it.

Can you help with this problem?
