VirtualBox - emulate Windows on the hard drive

With Virtualbox, if you have the Installation DVD of Windows, you can emulate Windows. Is it possible to use VirtualBox to emulate Windows with an existing installation of Windows?

Yes but it's known to possibly cause data corruption. Your games will not run in Virtualbox either.
