USB access Ubuntu 9.10, Virtualbox 3.0.8 OSE winxp guest

Asked by Chuck

Does Virtualbox 3.0.8 OSE support usb connectivity?

I cannot get usb access on winxp guest, Ubuntu 9.1 host using Virtualbox 3.0.8 OSE. I want to have my Ipod connect with MediaMonkey. I need to know if Virtualbox 3.0.8 OSE can access or be configured to allow usb connectivity. I would like to stay with the programs Ubuntu recommends on the software center and synaptic to have a better chance of getting the program installed correctly, but in this case virtualbox must work as Mediamonkey is the reason for all the effort and the ipod must connect.

So, before I fumble around trying to get usb support on the installed version of virtualbox, can it handle usb? I've read some, but would appreciate the latest, clearest steps, hints, advice, etc, if available. If the OSE version does not support usb, what advice is offered. If OSE does not support I'll probably shift to getting Virtualbox that does installed.

Thank you, I really appreciate the help.
