Can someone update virtualbox?

Asked by Larry Jordan

I'm afraid I have a newer computer than the old version of Virtualbox-ose can seem to work well with.... I have a G33 video chip built in and when I load Windows XP it thinks I don't have a 3D card. I've installed the guest additions which put in a video card of it's own, but it still doesn't seem to recognize/use it well. I notice the newer version (version 3....) says it improves on this; can someone update the Virtualbox-ose package available to Ubuntu jaunty for us?

To get the 3D card installed you need to install guest additions

The one in 2.4 (or is it 2.1) sure doesn't have much; can't install anything but Mavis Beacon so far. Maybe it isn't all that worthwhile, but hate to throw away all that old stuff. Can I ask, how did you assign it? Also, I've tried Wine and the Wine3D under VirtualBox; nothing so far works with my older windows games or even CorelSuite stuff... Haven't tried CorelSuite yet under VirtualBox, but not sure I like the older version available here under Package Manager. Old games include things like Might & Magic series, Blood & Magic, Nox... not that new. Any recommendations?

If the game is dos based you could try dosbox.

I've been able to play with decent performances to Might & Magic VI in Wine running in Ubuntu Hardy.

Can you help with this problem?
