How to create VDI(virtual box image) in seperate partition other than home folder?

I have 320GB hard disk but the size of home folder is only 27GB.is ther any way to increase the size of home folder without affecting data else how to create virtual box hard disk images in seperate partition?

You can put the VDI anywhere you would like, You can change the path/location in the vbox preferences menu for both virtual machines and VDIs. Then move you machine and VDI to the new location. When starting vbox after this you may have to re-register the disks on you virtualbox.

You should be able to resize your home partition with gparted. To do this you will have to use the liveCD. You cannot use gparted on a mounted partition. It can be found in System-> Administration-> Partition Editior.

My recommendation is to actually use symbolic links. Symlinks allow you to link a folder to another folder on a different partition. For example I have my entire ubuntu installation including /home on a 15GB partition, even though my home folder contains over 50GB of data. This is possible because the folder ~/Music is linked to /media/DATA/Music (which is on a different partition). I hope this makes some sense, if not maybe these pages will
