formatted ubuntu 15.04 with windows 7 os

Hi

kindly assist with software to recover files from formatted hard drive which had Ubuntu 15.04 and files in it. backed up the files before formatting to windows 7, but lost the hard drive which i had my backup.

I have try using Testdisk with no luck

You may find foremost works. You will need a writeable partition of equal or greater size than the one you are restoring from. You will lose file name and location information but the files may be recovered. Data that has been overwritten with new data in the same location on the physical disk are lost and irretrievable.

You can use foremost in the Ubuntu live CD desktop. I suggest you take more care of your backup media.
