how to change 24 to 32bit

When i open Ubuntu in virtualbox the picture is not full screen and i get a message that says the picture needs to be changed from 24 to 32bit i just want to know how to do this.

Have you installed the guest additions. You would be better posting on the virtualbox forum, it's more specific to your issue

Do a shutdown on virtual machine.
On VirtualBox interface, select the machine and then Preferences.
In Graphic Configuration, increase video RAM size and check if it solves issue.
And actionparsnip is right, install Guest Additions: boot virtual machine, at top menu of VirtualBox select Devices, and then Install Guest Additions. You will get a new virtual graphic card, more powerfull and can do copy/paste with other Ubuntu application.
