usb dvdrw disappears after installation of Ubuntu 10.04

I downloaded the image file for the intallation cd for Ubuntu 10.04. I used it to make the cd and installed Ubuntu 10.04 perfectly. I had no idea that the dvdrw that I used to install Ubuntu had not been detected after the installation was complete until I tried to use it for the OS installation part of VirtualBox. The usb driver seems to be there because it shows up in "dmesg" but it does not show up in fstab and something about the usb ports is in "lshw" but I don't know what it means because I am too new to Ubuntu.

Here is the output for "lshw" and "dmesg". I think the error concerning SCSI5 at the end might have something to do with it.

No, I could not get VirtualBox fully installed because I could not use my usb dvdrw drive.

I think I figured it out. The usb plug comes from an ide dvdrw using a usb to ide adapter and goes out one of the card slot openings and plugs into one of the usb plugs on the out side. I unplugged it and pluged it back in. It showed up in drive utility and it says it is at /dev/sr0 so I added the line to ftab so it would come back the next time I turn the computer. I had to do this because before I did this the drive would go away when I turned the computer off unless I did the unplug and replug thing with it again. So, I think this has taken care of the problem. Thanks for the help.
