Can't change screen resolution - 10.04 on Virtual Box

Asked by agerfe

I just installed Ubuntu 10.04 on a 13" macbook using Virtual Box but screen resolution too small. Monitor preferences shows only two options: 640x480 and 800x600. However, the resolution of my macbook is 1280x800.

Xorg.conf does not exist. I tried to create one, based on some scripts I found and managed to come up with some better results (though not the one I needed) but after some attempts I couldn't boot Ubuntu anymore so I had to make a fresh install.

I want a resolution that can fill the entire screen or something that comes very close to it.

Does someone have a solution for this?

I just tried the solution but it didn't work.

At boot a message informed me that there was an error and Ubuntu was going to run in low graphic mode. Then another message showed up with something like "module vboxvideo doesn't exist". I ended up removing the xorg.conf file and found also a file recently created by the system named xorg.conf.failsafe

Did you install "Guest addition", which allow resizing screen, release of mouse and copy/paste ?

Can you help with this problem?
