Will virt-manager 0.9.5 be added to the repositories?

Asked by GizmoChicken

I notice that virt-manager 0.9.5 was released by its developers on April 01, 2013. Will virt-manager 0.9.5 be added to the repositories for Saucy and/or Raring?

I'll just add that I reported what appears to be a bug with libvirt in which I get “Unable to connect to libvirt” when using the xl toolstack with Xen 4.2.

See https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libvirt/+bug/1180281 for the bug report.

I ask here whether the latest version of virt-manager will be added to the repository because I wonder whether the above mentioned bug may stem from virt-manager 0.9.4 rather than from the libvirt 1.0.5.

I suggest you link this question to the bug. If the security and bug fixes are significant it will be updated sooner rather than later.
Thanks

You may also find a PPA for it here on LaunchPad

As shown on https://launchpad.net/virt-manager and http://packages.debian.org/search?keywords=virt-manager&searchon=names&suite=all&section=all the version 0.9.5-1 has already been packaged for Debian Sid.
So there are good chances that 0.9.5 will make it into Ubuntu Saucy.

To get that version into Raring, someone has either to give good reasoning why a SRU would be necessary for that package, or a backport could be requested when the update has been brought into saycy. (Solving a nasty bug of course is a good reason.)

It seems to me that there is already a PPA with the 0.9.5 version for raring, see https://launchpad.net/~jacob/+archive/virtualisation maybe that helps.

Thanks to you both for the quick replies. Much appreciated! Knowing that there are good chances that 0.9.5 will make it into Ubuntu Saucy answers my question. And also thanks much for the link to the PPA. I'll also give the PPA try.

I'll link this question to the bug.

Update: I updated to virt-manager 0.9.5 usiing ppa:jacob/virtualization. The updated virt-manager seemed to install correctly, but when I attempted to run it, I received an error message stating that virt-manager 0.9.5 requires virtinst 0.600.4 to run. Only an earlier version of virtinst is currently available in the Ubuntu 13.10 repository. So I installed virtinst 0.600.4 from the Debian Sid repository. After the install of virtinst 0.600.4, virt-manager 0.9.5 seems to be working great with Xen using the xm toolstack. But unfortunately, the bug (#1180281) with Xen using the xl toolstack has not been cured by the update to virt-manager.
