Remote Desktop Viewer remember SSH passwords

Asked by Aaron Hoffer

Ubuntu 10.10
Remote Desktop Viewer 2.30.2

Steps:
1. Open a terminal in a remote machine:
   1.1 Select the connect icon
   1.2 Select protocol "SSH"
1.3 Enter hostname of remote host
1.4 Enter Username under "SSH Options"
   1.5 Select "Connect"

2. Vinagre opens terminal emulator on the remote host
3. Vinagre enters the username entered in step 1.4

4. Actual Result: Remote terminal prompts for <username>'s password
4. Desired Result: Vinagre sends <username>'s password to complete to longin to the remote host.

Is there some keychain/keyring type program I can connect to the Remote Desktop Viewer so that it will enter my password for me?

Hi,

I am afraid that you will need to use SSH keys to benefit from the keyring/keychain system. To my knowledge, it's impossible for the Remote Desktop Viewer to get a password from a password storage application like seahorse. This seems doable though but not implemented yet.

Can you help with this problem?
