insert mode, with visual block, doesn't run in vim

Asked by marco.pallotta

If I try to enter in visual block in vim (ctrl^v) and then I want to insert a character after having selected for example the first column of some rows, vim cannot permit to me to enter in insert mode (I press the key "i" with caps lock).
If I try this in a redhat system, for example, all works ok.

Have you some ideas to solve this?
Txs.

Tested with Hardy.

I want to add, to my previous comment, another info: when I launch vim I cannot see any colour typical of vim.

marcobra, first of all thanks for you reply. I have a question: why in some systems vim runs ok even without installing vim-full? With a Jaunty installed as virtual system I have no problems (and vim-full is not installed).
