vim package

i can't use terminal properly

i cannot use terminal.when starting the terminal ,i cannot enter the header files and if i pressing down button going down with some letters such as A B C....... And sometimes i can enter the program after the problem ,then i cannot compile my progam.
my friends say about this problem,that installing vim the terminal will ok. i don't know about this ,please help me

If instead of terminal you are getting the A B C in "vi" then yes, installing "vim" will correct the issue. If you are getting these letters everywhere, then I really don't know.

how can i install vim and please help to install vim ,because there some packages named 'vim comon','vim tiny'.....
i don't know which is suitable and comfortable please help me

There is only one Vim (vi_im_proved).
