/var/run/vshelper problem?

Asked by jpaechnatz

Hello,

I encountered the following problem, when I tried to use util-vserver on edgy.
Directly after the installation everything is well up and running.
After a reboot the following message apears, when I try to startup the service manually:

root@vserver:~# /etc/init.d/util-vserver start
$Fixing visibility of /proc entries for Vservers...done.
Starting vservers of type 'default'...The following problem(s) were encountered while verifying vshelper
functionality:
* The vshelper state-directory '/var/run/vshelper' does not exist; since
it is created by 'make install', this indicates a serious problem with
your util-vserver installation

To fix this, you can:
* disable vshelper entirely by executing
  | touch "/etc/vservers/.defaults/apps/vshelper/disabled"
* disable only this message by executing
  | touch "/etc/vservers/.defaults/apps/vshelper/warning-disabled"
* configure the util-vserver vshelper script, e.g. by adding
  | kernel.vshelper = /usr/lib/util-vserver/vshelper
to /etc/sysctl.conf and rebooting the machine, or by executing
  | echo "/usr/lib/util-vserver/vshelper" >/proc/sys/kernel/vshelper

Failed to start vserver 'dans'
make: *** [.dans.stamp] Error 1
make: Target `all' not remade because of errors.
ERROR

I added the entries to the sysctl.conf and I also tried to manually create the expected directory both does not work.

Thanks for any help.

cu Joh.
