Can you ping the hostname? Can you ping the IP?

Why do you want to use VNC? It is a VERY clunky way to remote access and their are often slicker ways to remotely manage systems.

yes i getting ping. i want to tell you one think i have apple system and i access kubuntu from apple by REMOTE DESKTOP but same system i use VNC it is notworking...

So i think there is VNC server application having problem in kubuntu.

Thanks

Why do you need the full desktop, what are you doing on the remote system that requires the whole desktop?

what i checked in iptables? i don't know about that...

And i'm using window machine in my control room for troubleshooting now i'm planing to use kubuntu for user. Problem is my control room in second floor and user are working in first floor, so any trouble i go to first floor, if VNC is working i can save my energy.

Thanks

Yes but what activities will you be doing on the desktop? If you are simply running updates you can do that via ssh which is much more streamlined

You can use VLCs HTTP interface to make the media come out of the local system. If you want to view them from where you are, you can share the files using samba. You can script using ssh too as it is a command line interface like scripts are

You can even use X forwarding over SSH to run GUI based apps like evolution, gedit etc. If the client is a windows system you can run xming and then connect using:
putty -X user@server
or in Linux (and maybe mac)
ssh -X user@server

Ahhh then VNC is perfect. I only ask as many users reach straight for VNC when it is very suplus, slow and clunky

Pretty nice guide. Not tried it myself as I use similar to what I outlined earlier.

Can you help with this problem?
