mounting video DVD in Ubuntu 6.06.1

Asked by yawarchasca on 2007-05-28

Hi there
I'm anewbie and i don't have too much knowledge ofthe system. Maybe this issue has been solved. I've been trying to play a dvd in ubuntu but it doesn't know what to do with it. I review the other post and i changed my fstab file to auto.
 it was:
 /dev/hdc /media/cdrom0 udf,iso9660 user,noauto 0 0
  so i changed it to:
/dev/hdc /media/cdrom0 udf,iso9660 user,noauto 0 0

so, now it does mount it but it doesn't recognize it- so, i guess that my main question : can Ubuntu read video DVDs?
and if it does, how do i configure it to do so?
thank you

Thanks for your question.

Ubuntu is -without additional Software- not able to play CSS restricted DVDs due to legal issues. You might find this helpfull: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/RestrictedFormats
