mp3 tagging

Greetings.
I have a problem using Kid3 and I hope someone can help me.
My problem is:
I use a Sony Walkman NWZ-E444 as a mp3 player and when I edit the tags for some mp3 files the player displays "unknown" for the year of release for the record/cd.
Many of my mp3 files come from audacity which I use for digitalizing my vinyl records.
Sometimes the player says that all tags are "unknown" other times only some of them are "unknown". Normally I can correct the tags using Kid3, but other times I can only correct some of the tags others remains "unknown".
Why is this happening? Is there a solution for this, using Kid3 or any other tag editor?
