cd $HOME
du -h *
If you can give the output of:
lsb_release -a; uname -a; dpkg -l | grep linux-image
We can remove old kernels and free space up

The cmmands clean the kernels out. Try:
sudo dpkg -l | grep '^rc' | awk '{print $2}' | xargs dpkg --purge
Just trying to get rid of all the rc kernels, which are removed but have residual configs

Each block is ONE command, copy ALL the lines as one and run it. It will work, your browser is wordwrapping the command but this oesn't mean each line is a separate command, hence the errors.
I thought the fact that I clealy left a gap between each command would show this well....

Yes, each block is its own command? It will tidy up the boot no-end as well as free a lot of space

If you install and run bleachbit as root and as user, you can free a lot of space. Close as many applications as you can and avoid options which say they will take a long time.
