Permissions could not be determined

My external usb drive has dissappeared from Launcher and I am unable to mount it. Had a look at it's properties and under Permissions it reads 'Permission "drivename" could not be determined'. How can do I resolve this? Seems to me that my sound has also dissappeared at the same time, don't know if it's related.

Have you tried to manually mount your device using mount command ?
man mount
