How do i use my 4GB flash drive to speedup ram

Last question..Hope anyone can help since i am a newb to Ubuntu...i am running Ubuntu 10.4 and it says i have 244MB ram and i was wondering if there is a way i can use my 4GB flash drive to help with that so i dont lag alot like i am doing? SInce i am a newb can someone give me walk through details on how that can be done if it can be done...Thanks...

You can use it as swap space which you will have already in the system, it will also be on your internal drive which will be massively faster than USB

how do i create a swap space i just need it faster so i can play my facebook games without the page timing out on me and would like to do a few more things...like i said im a newb and have very little understanding of Ubuntu

Using USB a swap space instead of your internal drive won't make it faster. USB is dog slow so when swap is used it will go slower. What is the specifications of the system please?

well ubuntu says i have 244.7mb ram but in total its 256...Intel Pentium III 700MHz (but says 697MHZ) and a 16MB 128 rage pro 2x agp graphics card...20GB hard drive! Hope that is enough specs

I suggest you run Lubuntu, it is designed to be trim and slick. you can install lubuntu-desktop, log off then log into the lubuntu session, it will be much faster. I suggest you use minitube to view youtube vids as it doesn't require flash :)

OK so unintsall ubuntu 10.4 and install Lubuntu 10.4....what about facebook games that need flash i ditched microsoft windows OS cause they are to high demand on hardware and i just have this old laptop.....

Why not Lubuntu 12.04?

you don't need to uninstallanything technically (unless space is low too), you can install as many desktops as you like. It doesn't affect performance.

do i meet the min system requierments for Lubuntu cause im just worried about lag and freeze time..off current topic would i still be able to play like world of warcraft on my desktop i will be getting with Lubuntu?

Yes, lubuntu is made for low end systems, xubuntu is too but lubuntu is a little lighter
