Can't copy my home folder to an external drive

Asked by William Pabon on 2012-05-11

I want to copy the whole content of my home folder to an external drive.

Since I am not too familiar with terminal commands (chmod, cp, etc), I tried using the GUI with elevated priviledges (gksudo nautilus, and my administrator password).

When I drag and drop the home folder to my external drive I get a message that I don't have sufficient permissions to do the operation.

Why?

Is there an alternative to terminal commands for this operation?
