Multiple swap area

I m a proud user of Ubuntu 12.04. I using 3 GB RAM in my system .I knew that the swap area of my system are in two partition .one is 3.7 GB another is 2.9 GB. How is it work ? Can I join these two swap area together ?

You can delete one and resize into the other if the partitions are next to each other on the drive. If not then delete the 2.9Gb partition and make bot OSes use the SAME swap space, then expand one of the partitions into the new free space.

Be sure to run a full backup before you do all this in case of catastrophe
